I'm thinking that in a previous life that George's computer was maybe someone's pet racoon........... It exhibits totally unpredictable behavior at times.

Our lawn darts were the early ones, with the SHARP steel points.

Playing teams, it was house rules legal for the receiving team member to move the hoop while the dart was in the air

He forgot the BB gun fights, with the 3 pump maximum rule (except Benjamins, one pump), which always got broken about 15 minutes into the battle

A wooden matchstick with a needle on the end and a straw made a nasty blowgun...………..

River reeds in South Western Ontario had a hard tap-root that looked like a carrot, about 5" long. This balanced the 'spears' quite well. The 'shafts' were about 1/2' to 5/8" in diameter & very straight.

In the fall, we'd pull these out of the ground beside the Thames River, knock the dirt off the roots with our wooden swords, pick teams and throw them at each other. Our shields were garbage can lids, so shield and sword in hand to defend against the attack, thrust the sword into the ground to retaliate with a launch of our own spears.

We were pretty good with them as kids and the "spear chucking" lessons came into use in High School as both my brother and I set records for "Javelin" throwing that were not beat for a number of years.
