Default De-burring tool for .17 cal

Does anyone make a small caliber specific case mouth de-burring tool? Something specific for .22 and smaller?

My Lyman goes down to about 1/8" at the tip, but don't know of any 17cal specific deburring tool.

I use the RCBS VLD for case mouths. Neck, just the standard outside deburring tool. Both in an RCBS powered case prep machine.

I have an RCBS made by L.E. Wilson that works great for 17. I have had it for 40 years, it is just as serviceable as the day I purchased it. Wilson still makes the same tool. The post on the outside deburring end is a feature that I find indispensable.

I don't know who makes the RCBS now, but it is junk.

I have a standard 45 degree Lyman tool that I bought back in '87 and a L.E. Wilson tool that was in a box of odds/ends I got from a gun auction years ago. Neither will outside de-burr a .17 Fire ball case. I saw a Sinclair VLD 28 degree inside chamfer tool that works down to .14 cal but then I still need something to outside de-burr. I don't want to order some standard tool and find out it's no better than the Lyman or Wilson I already have.

Same with me, RCBS, via Wilson 45 degree does the job on inside and outside of all my case mouths, from 17 cal up. Have had this tool for at least 40 years.

I can see that if you try and debur the outside before deburring the inside first the neck can be a bit tight on the post, but if I debur the inside after trimming the post slips into the 17 caliber neck just fine. What you may have is a Wilson deburring tool made with a post for a specific caliber. The current one is the same as my original one and works great on 17 calibers. A guy was at my house and remarked on how he has been through five deburring tools in the last decade and not a one of them worked as well as mine when they were new. I told him to go home and order one from Wilson. He did so about six months ago and loves it, particularly on his 17 Hornet cases.

A friend just bought a new one and it is still marked Wilson on the side. Interesting.

Never knew they made caliber specific ones, well besides 50 BMG.

I have both a ~10 year old Wilson and an RCBS that I bought about a year ago to replace one I had dating back to the early 1980's that I misplaced. Both work well for me, and I generally use the first one that I touch in the small drawer where I keep them with equally good results.

BTW - About 3-4 months ago I found the one that I misplaced by leaving it in a rifle die box. It gets used again now too.
