Dropping extracted cases with a Remington action and short cases is fairly common issue. Of the half dozen XP’s I have, I never had any issue. That is until I built a rifle from one, this was a 6TCU and it still dropped.
Don’t fight it, Sako extractor and go on.

The Mini already is set with a Sako style extractor. My 222 feeds and ejects so smooth I have to check it just because it feels like nothing.
The mini being a smaller diameter may be a good thing for short cases.
I doubt there is a market, but I would like one in a Hornet.

Actually the Howa Mini has an M-16 type extractor and it works so well that it reliably extracts the M1 Carbine based wildcats like the Spitwad and my Spitfire. I haven't had any failure to extract.
