That’s the one and only reason I purchased a progressive (to form cases in multiple steps I was thinking 5 steps every pull on the ram).

I knew there was no way to load little tiny 17s on a progressive but boy was I wrong!

My Hornady is an early model LNL with all the latest upgrades installed and several other nice to have options.

Default Tried 20VT's from LC in a 550 Dillion

I tried forming 20VT's from LC brass on a 550 Dillon using three dies, a 221FB form die, a 20VT bump die, and a 20VT neck bushing die.

I abandoned the quest but I don't recall the exact problem(s) that surfaced. It may have been the long neck or HS.

I still use the last two dies at 1 and 3 stations in the 550 after cutting off the necks, cleaning and chamfering.

But I still expand the necks before turning on a single stage.
