John passed yesterday morning, I believe. Heart attack (I think). John wasn't a real active member here, but he was a hell of a nice guy. I was fortunate enough to meet him a few times. He sent me a variety of 6mm bullets once, out of the blue, when I built my 6x47 Lapua. John was really into the 20 TAC for prairie dogs and he was influential to me with my build.
I pulled this off the varminthunters.com board: "He had just returned from a great prairie dog trip to South Dakota with his son. He called me Wednesday at work to tell me he was home and had a great trip. John was a great American, a man's man, best wing shot I ever saw in person. Played college football, headed TWRA (Tenn wildlife Resources Agency), retired from Duck's Unlimited. Always wanting to help out a new shooter, just before he left on his trip, he loaned a new shooter a Arbor Press and dies for a 22 BR." He will be missed, for sure. |

Condolences to his family. John was a really nice guy to me as well. He and I transacted several times over the years. He was always eager and willing to help a fellow shooter.
