Default Shooting House- off tòpic -remove if needed

Looking for pictures or plans for a shooting/testing building. This IS not a hunting blind. I want to put a building on my range with two shooting stations. Ideas?

One thing I am going to do is gather old tires to make a baffle to shoot through, reducing the sound. Four or five, place the muzzle down in the second one.

There are photos, a discussion and rudimentary plans in one of the books from the 1940's or 1950's. Oh boy, which one was it??? It had an inverted T shape gun port to accommodate seated or offhand shooting. I suppose that this could be modified to also allow prone. It was raised above the ground on vertical timber foundation.

You state "building", do you want an enclosed building (pre-fab shed) or just a covered area to set up or build shooting benches.

A pre fab building in the right configuration could work with double doors that open or single doors at 2 ends of the building. Or modify a prefab building to meet your needs.

A covered shooting area, willing to pour concrete, build concrete shooting benches, etc. There are kits available for a 4 post roof structure to make a pavillion, and then you erect/build shooting benches, or use portable benches.

My cousin has an 8x12, which is perfect size for loading, cleaning the guns and a bench with room for components. It has a couple windows, a stove and a 5k wat a/c. It has a window on the shooting end with a trap door to stick the barrel out, which greatly reduces the noise.

No matter what or how you build it.

I highly recommend you put windows on each side

so you can at least halfway watch for idjits walking around the side

toward your line of fire, and/or blocking access.

Our range just got rid of a self promoted "range cop".

He was a RO that took his "job: too seriously. He just had to check
everyone to make sure we had our membership card with us each time.

One of the pistol ranges could be mostly blocked off by parking
at the end of a berm. Rather than pack everything 30 feet to a sorry

concrete table. I let the tailgate down on my truck and used it as my shooting table for offhand pistol shooting. This a/h walked on the blind shooting side of the truck and just popped around right into the line of fire instead of coming in on the safe side. He startled me several times just as I was about to fire.

A enclosed buliding is what I would prefer. A pre-fab is a possibility.
