Default I thought I had done everything to idiot proof…

my ChargeMaster and then The old adage: You can do everything possible to idiot proof the transportation system, and they just come along and build a better idiot. came to mind…. And I proved to be an excellent example of a better grade of idiot this morning.

Signs, labels, more signs and more signs and perhaps if I were to figure a way to plant an electric dog training collar in the seat of my chair and trigger it off if I pour powder in the hopper w/o ensuring the drain is closed first it might get the message through my thick head. I even have signs telling me not to even bring powder to the bench until I have double checked that the drain on the ChargeMasters are closed.

It’s been a couple years since the last godawful mess, and after beating myself up pretty good, cleaning up the mess and adding to the signage one would think. But, oh hell no.

Default Been there

So….”Drain closed???” Written in permanent marker on top of the reservoir lids of both my Chargemasters fixed it for me. If that doesn’t stop me, I have more than loading on my mind and that’s a good indicator to come back when I can focus on nothing but loading.

No doubt.

I got to thinking about the last time and it was prior to my mother’s passing in 2019 when my loading shop was still in her basement. But still!!

Fixed that issue that I was warned about when I got mine.
Set the whole thing in a big sheet pan.
I do my operation a bit different than I see a lot of folks. I have a separate bench for powder. Nothing but charge master, a scale and powders measures. All my presses are on their own bench. Jiggling and wiggling from running single stage and progressive presses, I don’t see it doing any good to a scale or a powder measure.
My progressives all jiggle enough to bump up charge weight a tenth or two after a few cycles.

I permanently place a plastic butter dish at the outflow of my Chargemaster.
Now, about the newer. RCBS Matchmaster; the drain for it is underneath it. The whole unit must be picked up and the drain centered over whatever receptacle you are using.
This is the dumbest design I have ever seen. I one million % prefer the side drain method of the ChargeMaster. Can you tell I hate my Matchmaster?
