My understanding is Remington advertised Bushmaster as a 'deadly war weapon' as opposed to the MSR approach the rest of the industry has. Remington was owned by a bunch of Wall St hedge fund maximize profit types whereas the rest of the industry, as Bill Ruger said, is a quaint little cottage business. How much difference this will have? We'll see. The real problem is the media scum have played up AR as the 'cool gun' to kill with. 12 ga pump is a lot nastier.

That is the truth. And if they really sat down and thought and obtained actual numbers, the AR, in civilian crimes has killed or injured far less than a bunch of other tool/weapons. But that does not play into their real agenda.

It was the Ins. Co that paid off, NOT Remington. And if I remember correctly, didn't Remington file bankruptcy? Can't get blood out of a rock?
Ever see an Ins. Co. do something that didn't benefit THEM??
A CYA tactic in case of future litigation?

Over the last three or four decades Remington has not been a team player.

Why do you say that ? Remington has still been putting out rifles and products, maybe not to the same standard as the original ones, but that is due too the various owners that have bought into it.
With the new ones, now, maybe it will come back to it's old life. At least they are now putting out ammuniton and a new bullet/improvement with this new plant of ownership. Time will tell.

As for the suit case and all, that was and is more a insurance company and it's lawyers doing the handling and settlement, since the old company/owners went bankrupt a few years back.

If you believe the left media, Remington had to settle because they sold a firearm to the general public that shouldn't have been. But really this is tied to a larger agenda, an anti bill of rights agenda by the new "progressive democrats" and the push to the Great Reset(Marxism).
