Default 6mm K-Hornet

Folks - looking for info for loads for this barrel. It's an Encore barrel that I bought from an acquaintance who I believe bought it from Brooks. I have a .17 (possibly a squirrel) that came from Brooks also.

Problem is, I can't find ANY of the info that I originally got with the 6mm K-Hornet (have moved to Alaska since). If anyone could point me to any articles about it, or especially, send me any load data, I would REALLY appreciate it!!!

Thanks,

Steve

I don't have any data for a 6mm hornet, but I do have some for a 25 hornet. Let me know if you want it. it is for 60, 75, 87 grain bullets.

Well the 6mm version isn't going to be easy. I would say you're going to have to roll your own. I for one have never heard of the 6mmKH but I would start with low loads and work up. THe same powders should still apply N110, Lil Gun, Enforcer, as with the 22KH. I looked for any info and no go. Adam

May want to hit up Gary Reeder as he is working on a 240 banshee which is based on the hornet case.

Thanks all. I really appreciate the info.

At this point, I'm seriously thinking of punching it out to a 6 BR. I've always wanted one and just can't think of a good reason to keep the 6 K-Hornet.

Thanks again,
steve

I just bought a 6mm barrel. Called PTG to see about a reamer and will be ordering die blanks when I order the reamer. I had also thought about using a 22K Hornet with a necking reamer and throater. I may try that.......

Start with the max loads listed for the 22 K-Hornet with 55 grain bullets with 55 or 58 grain 6mm bullets & work up from there. Once you find the max for the 55, back off about 20% & work up for heavier bullets. Not sure I would go any heavier than 58 anyway. Same powders apply.

Default case

Bill Oviatt who is on here has just built a 6mm hornet and has the reamer and all the particulars about this cartridge. I believe he calls it a 6mm Calhoon. From what he has told me is that he is getting exceptional results from this in all bullet weights. You may want to contact him. That's really all I know about this cartridge except now I want one.
