Default 20 vartarg again

i took out my tc encore with a new 23" heavy factory barrel in 20 vartarg. i also loaded 18.0gr of rel 7 in new remington's brass(221 fb thru a 20vt fl sizer) and 34gr hp midway nitemare. i did not do a neck sizer, just chamfered them. i aslo didn't have my chrono, i'll say 3500fps, give or take. i shot them at 200 yards with a bench. also a 4.5-14x swift scope and it was set at 10x.

right
i made this because my scope was not set. 1 was up to right. 2 was up a liitle and to the left. 3 was left and up just a little bit. 3? was my fault. i jerked it.

middle
i should have turned my scope down but 1 was still left and up. 2 was right on!!!

left
i have a couple of "old" cases(221 rem made into 20vt) so i loaded 5 of them 18.0gr of rel 7 and a 34gr hp. i was just wondering if a "old" case should shoot as good as a "new" one. the first shot, as you will notice, was high and to the left. i would say i jerked this one, but the shot and the shooter were fine. i'll just chalk this one up to me. the rest were fine. i couldn't tell if the old was much better than the "new".

i shot some steel targets just to fireform the cases. next i'll have to do the ladder test and find out what my accuracy will be. i just can't wait to find out!!!

Take your chrono next time - I would like to know what you are getting from that barrel. For target pasters,, I'm got some old garage sale price stickers (about 3/4" roung) out of the trash! The price fit my budget

Jumped on the 20VT bandwagon this year. Picked up an MGM barrel for my Encore at a price that I couldn't refuse. The barrel was used but came from a good home with a bonus of 150 rounds and a forearm. The brass is no longer loaded after a trip to South Dakota last week.

Amazing little caliber. Topped it with a 4.5-14 Leupold with varmint Hunter reticle and was in business. Really have to like the lack of recoil and the barrel not heating up like most everything else I shoot.

Need to pick up some dies and start loading. Found another 250 pieces of Remington 221 fireball brass so I will have a decent amount. Also picked up a box of Lapua 221 fireball brass but not sure what to do with it at this point.

Looking forward to more on your project as it is pretty close to mine. Keep posting your results.

i luv the 20vt so much, i've gotten rid of varmint calibers(223, 22-250ai...).

this is just me, but i only go about 200ish yards. a 300-350 yards shot is rare for me.

tstowater-I also got some of the Lapua .221 brass but found they won't chamber without neck turning. All my Remington brass chambers just fine without turning. I'm also just getting to know my VT but so far it's been great. Still playing around with different loads but just about everything I've thrown down the barrel has been very accurate. Randy.
