.706 long ---- boat tail= .100
30.1 grains h20 in resized/formed 17-223 lc case filled to top
24" 1-9 barrel
Don't know my loaded length yet. 2.240 looks ok if that helps but don't know yet.
Don't know if re 16 will fit but some data showed it close to h414 in .243 with 100 grain bullets. 40.8 grains re 16 vrs 40 grains h414. 2 different sources - Alliant and Hogdon. Thanks

ok i'll give it a go after work. 30.1gr h2o? sounds a little high...I think I was getting 30.4 ish with straight .223 LC brass (09 headstamp)

is that with a dome of water above the case neck? I use a drop of dish soap to break the surface tension of the water. the meniscusity of plain water can skew #'s. kinda like the whole how many drops of water can be held on a penny before the surface tension breaks thing we did in high school science.

with a .706" bullet and a 1.75" case (may be longer?) I did the numbers at 2.2" as there's only .156" of bullet in the neck. and this is with 30gr h2o capacity which I still feel is on the high side.

Remember this is estimated guidelines. Don't treat it as gospel. as always start low and work up. use at your own risk.

Cartridge : .17/223
Bullet : .172, 32gr, Reeds
Useable Case Capaci: 25.567 grain H2O = 1.660 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.200 inch = 55.88 mm
Barrel Length : 26.0 inch = 660.4 mm
Powder : Alliant Reloder-16

Case was level full - not a lot of neck on these. I filled case to bottom of neck and got 26.8 grains retumbo in there so i think there should be enough room. Thanks for the help - Might start with Re 16.
