Shooters Pro shop Blemish Noslers
I picked up 500 ea .224 50 gr Ballistic tipped boat tails in hopes my 527A in 222 Rem would like them. Well that plan didn’t work out so well. I managed one <3/4”, 5 shot, 100 yd group. Most are double that. Thinking they might be a little long for the CZs twist rate, in the 22/250 5 went. No better. My CZ shoots just about everything sub 1”.
Anyone had experience with these blems? They are supposed to be minor cosmetic flaws, no more. Last edited by 56S; 07-14-2018 at 02:16 AM. |

Shooters Pro choice blemish Noslers
I shoot lots of them, in 20 and 224, mostly the tipped one's when I can get a order in before they are all sold. Have shot some of the hollow points also. Have just about as good of accuracy with them as I do the better one's. I know others that shoot plenty of them, with good results also.
Just keep working up and you will find a load/combo that will work with them. The seconds and blemish one's are, as you say, and they show in their ads, mostly just polish/dull features. Bill K |

Never had anything but great accuracy from them. I buy from shootersproshop often and have not seen any degradation of accuracy from any of their blems.

Sorry I screwed up the thread title.
I appreciate the words of encouragement. The 527 shoots the 40gr version just fine. I’ll keep trying.

Bullets and rifle's are strange females in what they like or don't like.
My Sako, rebarreled .223: 40gr Nosler orange tips best group was 1 1/4". 35 and 40 gr V'max: TEN shots, Several times to verify: .230". Even the el cheapo C/L 55gr put 'em in barely 1/2". Two of us came up with 19 different bullets: 35 to 55gr. Same load for all, just sorting bullets in a new barrel. Good luck. You might run some Flitz thru that bore about 50 times IF it's new. IF it's not, just find another bullet that shoots better, or live with those til used up.

The 527 is about 15 yr old now and plenty of shooting since new. Wonderful rifle. I hesitate trying them in my Axis 223 for fear it will like them. I love/hate that Savage. It’s the workhorse for invading coons/coyotes/foxes. Hangs on a peg on the wall. My CZs & Sako are a joy to own and shoot. They’re the ones I expect to make me smile when the common great group happens. Thing is with the 222 is it likes everything with the exception of bulk 55 FMJ. Just a big surprise that the Noslers are not doing well. Maybe the old gal is getting set in her ways

ever since Hornady replaced the amax line with the eld's I have switched over to nosler's and I only buy the 2nds and blems. with the exception of some 80gr .223's that had very faint skive marks on the nose I could never find said "blemishes"
All of my bullets have shot great. only downfall. finding everything you want at once to save on shipping. I try and make 1 or two orders a year when possible. |

Using the information from Nosler and Berry’s Bullet stability calculations, this bullet is maginally stable in my 22-250 with a 1 in 12 twist. It does shoot quite well in my 1-9 223. Well duh.
