Hi there Mark! How's the pup? With the 25's I tried Varget Big Game, and IMR 4895. The 4895 was the best accuracy wise with the 25's and velocity was plenty good enough.

Probably not used as many rounds of 17Rem as most of you, but we went to H414 after going to a Dillon loader from IMR 4320 with Hornady 25 gr hp. Really liked the 4320 but the 414 meters better. We've been using Accurate 2520 but will probably go back to the 414 when we empty out this last 8 lbs.

Accuracy has been good and we work on keeping the ammo from getting hot when out in the p-dog pastures. Just a practice we use on all p-dog calibers.

Thumbs up .17 rem.

My .17 Rem likes 23.8 gr.of Varget with 25gr V-max. Also IMR 4320 24 gr. with some old Rem.25 gr. bullets. I'm going to try some CFE 223 in the future.AA-2700 with the woodchuckden 23 gr. is bad medicine for groundhogs.

m595 nut- i'm a 40 or so year 17 rem addict. the powders I've always used are 'old school' powders now. in model 700's, model 7, xp100 customs, Thompson contender 14'' and I was a fur guy, red fox. and pd's,etc. I tried all the bullets available and the hndy 25 g. h.p. was and is my favorite. in my 17 ai bee's its 4227 and h110. the 17 rem powders I've used are imr 4320-24.6 g., aa2700-26.8. these are hot loads. start at least 1-1.5 g. less. my powder inventory when viewed, looks like it's from alley oops reloading room. I don't recognize a lot of powders on the for sale shelf. my old powders would often end up in the food cooler for many pd rnds or tough extraction can attack. I hear many new powders don't require that cooling need. hope this helps. oh, and I found that case annealing should be done or case neck splits will soon occur. I use aa 1680 and 20 grainers in the 17hh- honest hop

Thanks for the input. Further evidence my particular rifle isn't "normal", whatever that is. . As close as IMR4320 and W748 are in the burn rate charts, I am a full 2+ grains less for an accurate, safe load in my rifle. My friend just bought a twin to my M595...we will be shooting tomorrow. Will be interesting to see where we end up. Will keep all interested updated.

I am at 23.7 gr of IMR 4320 in my Remington 700 BDL 17 Remington with Hornady 25 gr HP bullets and it shoots them well. I tried the AA2700 but it did not shoot well out of my rifle. That being said, I also did not play around with it very much to get it to shoot either. I may have to play more with it as I have an 8 lb keg plus another 2-3 pound cans of it. I have used AA2700 a lot in my 220 Swift with the Barnes 36 gr Varmint Grenade bullets.
