Default Need help getting started with my new 20 Killer Bee

Hello Fellas

I just received my new toy looking for some help.
I have my new no 1 in 20 Killer Bee looking for pet loads to try I’m working with 39 grain Sierras. What powders do you boys like? What speeds are you getting?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My barrel is a 11 twist.

Default Sounds like a very nice rifle....

Pictures would be well appreciated
Well you have picked an awesome bullet to start with, the eleven twist should handle the 40 V-Max as well. What powders do you have?I think you will find depending on barrel length that the quicker powders will serve you best, something along the lines of AA7,2200,or N-130.
Hopefully Gary,Michael, and Ray see this and respond as well.
Matt

Matt I never did the 20 KB. I did the 17 and have a 19 Killer Bee reamer but didn't do it when brass got hard to get. If you have brass then the 20 KB is a great round. Dan C sure knew what he was doing when he design the Killer Bee series.

Default Amen Ray....

I still am hoping Starline will make Bee brass, glad Hornady makes it.
Have heard Hornady brass is soft, but have not tried it for my self in the HeBee or 218 Ruger.A 20 caliber KB is on my bucket list....some day.
I love the idea of a 19KB and honestly I should be looking for a donor 1V or Cooper to make one,the 32 Sierra in 19 would be sweet.

Matt I didn't care for the Hornady Bee brass either. I think if you ran the 20 KB reamer in .050 or .075 short you could use the Starline 32-20 brass and not give up much in performance since Dan's design is very efficient.

Default killer bee

on my two kb's I run 16.3 (RP 25-20 brass) and 16.9 grs (win 218 brass) of 1680 behind a 32gr vmax. that's right at 3600 fps. I had a 3rd killer bee for a short time, but couldn't stand the starline 32-20 brass. too many failures and too short. it's now another rimmed vartarg. like Ray said, I should have run the reamer in a little short and then maybe, but making the brass out of starline 32-20 is a PITA. I could have bought Hornady 218 bee brass and I will when the 25-20 brass is done for. I never loaded for anything but the 32vmax, so I can't give you any info on the 39. good luck, it's a great little round.

Warning if you use my data in your gun your gun will blow up so do not use it. INFO ONLY - I used 14.3 gr lilgun with 32 vmax and WSR and 7-1/2 primers and loaded to a length of 1.650” if I read my writing correctly.

All I remember for sure was little recoil and I have never seen so much red mist in my life!

Lilgun is not for the 17 kB I didn’t like that at all.

I used to use lilgun in my 22k hornet, It did make bullets go fast but, found out it does like to blow things up also. I still have 3 1/2 lbs I'd like to get rid of.

I didn't like it for my Hornets either, too erratic, especially in cold weather. Lil Gun works great in my Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt for 30ksi heavy loads.
