Default 17 Squirrel in Contender pistol.

Like to get some input from those who have the small case 17s in pistol length barrels. I'm getting ready to place an order for a 17 Squirrel in a pistol version Contender. MGM offers barrels up to 13" for there starting price. Then add $30 more dollars for 14 - 16" barrels. Most all my barrel are 14" so I have come to prefer the feel of this length barrel.

So my question is with this case capacity would it be that much of a gain or loss to go with a 14 or 16" barrel over the 13" barrel? I plan on using bullets in the 15 to 20 grain weight range. And I'm not going for full house max loads. I'm also in the process of getting a 23" 17 HMR rechambered to 17 Ackley Bee so this will provide me with a higher velocity option.

Thanks Mike

Did you end up getting the Contender barrel in 17 Squirrel from MGM? If so how do you like it so far??? I'm waiting for a 17 Squirrel Barrel from them as well but I went with a 21.5" barrel to set it up as a rifle.
