wanting to add a .20 tact to my arsenal and am torn between building one on a custom action, maybe stiller predator v, or going the less expensive route and buying a cooper model 21 in .20 tact. just looking for some input and thoughts…

Cooper 1 / Custom rifle 0
Yeah those cooper rifles look like dandy rifles and would cost half the money… there is a model 21 .20 tact nib 26" for 1700 I've been eyeing is that a good price? S.R. Last edited by livetoshoot; 05-12-2014 at 04:32 AM. |

Well I've priced some coopers lately $1400 to 1900? I picked up a donor rifle and built mine for under $ 1K complete? I don't need expensive furniture to beat up in the woods.

Thats great oleman, did you just happen to find the action for a good price and get it rebarreled?

I found a donor rifle complete.
I'm working on another donor I found today for $350 a complete rifle. The new barrel will run just over $300 and my smith will chamber it for $150.

My 20 Tac (which is almost finished) is built on a Stiller Predator (2006 vintage), Kreiger barrel (Rem varmint taper) and a Rem/HS Precision stock, Rem 223 magazine and bottom metal (Thanks Jim) and a Jewell HVR trigger.
Total US cost is $1480.00 I did the chambering ad fitting myself. I'll let you know if it feels nicer and shoots better than my Coopers when I get a scope mounted and fire some rounds down range ![]() ![]() Second action from the left ![]() Last edited by Kiwishooter; 05-12-2014 at 09:19 AM. |

Either route should work well..........
I have a full custom 20 Tac assembled in @2000 built on a Rem 700 action with a PacNor barrel/Rem Varmint contour/HS Precision stock. In 2002-03 I bought a Cooper MTV in 20 Tac with some great looking wood on it. Both rifles have more built-in accuracy than I can ever shoot them with, and it's hard to say which one is best. Both have 12" twist barrels and both shoot my own 38 grain HP's extremely well.. -BCB

My two cents worth. I've had several Cooper 21's, and they all have been great. For the money they are hard to beat...but the Stiller Predator V RBLP is a dream as far as I'm concerned! My current 20VT I built using the Predator V action as the start. It is the best 20VT rig I've had so far. I bought the action new, but shopped the rest of the parts very hard. Ended up with $2250 total in the build. To me...well worth the extra expense. 410gauge
