Sounds to me you need a shorter die. Cut 10 thou off the bottom and screw it down further, to just where it's not crimping the case mouth. Or take 10 thou off a shell holder? Make sense?

on second thought...are you loading 17 ACK Hornet or 17 Hornady Hornet and do your dies match?

I use a Bonanza co-ax press and Hornady dies for the !7 Hornet and have had no problems with seating.

Could it just be some debris in the internal threads of the die preventing you from screwing the seating stem down to it's full potential?
