Default 20p

The .20 practical is a .223 necked down to .20 cal. The same neck angle.

Yep, exactly what Hal said it is. A 20P is short for 20 Practical or aka 20-223 is just a straight necked down 223 to .204 with zero other changes.

It's an extremely popular cartridge because all you need is a 223 FL bushing die and you are off and running. Some folks will neck them down in two steps but I do it in one step with my 20-222 and 20-250 and never had a single issue doing it that way.

The 20 Practical is a great alternative for the 204 Ruger and it's not often you hear of a 20P not shooting extremely well.

Nope the 20T is an excellent cartridge, run it through the forming die load it and shoot, size it with the full length die there after.
Or if you are fortunate enough just load the 20T brass and shoot.

Todd once told me that Ruger wanted to duplicate the performance of the 20T but couldn't with the 223 case, which is why they used the 222Rem Mag case and the 204 Ruger was born.

Kiwi if you ever get the chance to have a beer with one of the engineers who was around the development of the 204 you might hear Bill Ruger wanted the fastest factory cartridge. The 223 would do it because we can do as hand loaders, the pressures were higher than they wanted for a factory round. They went the 222 Mag route with a much longer throat and at the same time went from the 33 gr to the 32 gr bullet with shorter bearing surface. Also using blended powder not available to us handloaders. Mr. Ruger was happy. May have been the beer talking.

20 P and 20 T are super cartridges. I have both, but find I shoot the 20 T the most, just seems to be my best shooter between the two of them.

But my 204 R is no slouch either. All of them are so easy to load and find accurate loads for.

Read Kindlers use of the 20Tac in his book/s. And read a fine article regarding the 20 Practical in the 20 Cal side bar on the front page of Accurate Shooter.com if you want some good information on either.
