Type in "plain jane" in the search block and you will be able to scroll down a few items to a thread by that title (Plain Jane 20-222). All sorts of varied info in there. It was/is useful for mine, but I only use 32 and 34gr bullets.

Default 20-222

Hello,
I just wanted to add that I am using Ramshot xterminator with Berger 35's and 40's and am getting from3650-3725 fps. Something in that burn rate works well. In a bone stock .222 Ramshot Tac worked well so I don't see why it wouldn't work well in the 20 cal version. I know Ramshot powders are hard to come by right now. AA2230 and Reloder 10x are the same powders. Viht 130 is right there as well along with benchmark. Just my $.02.

Benchmark also works incredibly well.

AA2230 and Ramshot X-Terminator are the same, Ball powder.

Reloader 10x is an extruded, faster burning powder, not the same, not interchangeable with those two above

You are correct Lane, Reloder 10x burn rate is similar to AA2230 and X-terminator but not same powder. I stand corrected.

RL 10X may be shown as similar burn rate to X-Terminator, on some charts, but they are nowhere close in small caliber cartridges like the 20-222 and my 20 EXTREME. I have a load with 20.3 grains of 10X pushing a 40 V-Max to 3650 fps. X-Terminator at 22.1 grains gets me 3722 fps with that bullet at similar temperatures and shows far less pressure that 10 X at 20.7 grains which gets about the same velocity. As well the X-Terminator is quite a bit less temperature sensitive than !0X which can be very deceiving as higher loads that seem good on one day will blow primers the next. Ramshot Exterminator and Tac are two very good powders to run the 39/40 grain bullets in a 20-222. Use the Ramshot loads for the 20 VarTarg Turbo as have very similar case capacity. http://www.ramshot.com/wp-content/up...1-2016_Web.pdf

IMR 8208 will likely work the best starting at 22.2 grains which gives me just shy of 3700 fps in my 20 EXTREME (Case full). The 20 Practical holds about 27 grains of 8208 but 25 grains gets 3757 at 14 degrees Celsius and pressures are such that 25.4 grains get stiff bolt lift at 3815 fps. Backing off to 24.5grains in the Practical grains should be safe at warmer temperatures. Hodgdon 4895 will give you a better case fill and less pressures.
