If the copper jacket is really thin then it may wear along bottom edge of body/base. Also, if bullet has a copper jacket with exposed lead base then some erosion will occur..
Edward,
That is my concern! I think I have some crushed walnut shells around here so I will probably give that a try as suggested above.

Rick,
Sorry but I am trying to remove moly.

Thanks for the information and the suggestions.

I didn't notice if your bullets are tipped or hollow points. One thing about using walnut shells with hollow points. Some of them will get plugged up. I haven't noticed any real difference in accuracy but I don't like the look of them like that. It could possibly change the expansion characteristics of a hollow point too.

Not totally foolproof but I use the coarse #12 grit grade of crush walnut. I get it at Harbor Freight, $20 for a 25 lb. box with a 20% off coupon, a lot cheaper than the gun supply vendors.

I haven’t messed with moly in years and would never of thought about a slurry mixture... I always just tumbled bullets in plastic pill bottles (have to put potatoes in the correct way or the cap comes off and molly mess out. To remove excess I had two different types of paper towels that worked great (kind of like two filters but the first one would pass all the loss molly through it.

To remove moly, WD 40 has worked very well for me. Another option I have never tried but would give it a go is to put the bullets in a bottle, squirt wipe out foam cleaner, shake a little bit after a short amount of time rinse off. (Might be too hard on the jackets??? IDK???

I spray moly coat the 51gr. bullets from my NOE mould, for the Condor Air Rifle.

I have noted zero negatives from doing this, and non-coated standard pellets still shoot identically.
