I just got off the phone with HNDY, 1 in 12 perhaps is enough especially at 3000fps. It is a match jacket, same thickness as all the rest of their match bullets. Should hold up at 3700, in a 1 in 8" twist.

I got a couple boxes of the Frontier 55 match hp to try on Prairie dogs next month. My guess is not going to be great on small grass rats. Midway had a bunch of cheap seconds. For under $12 per 100.

New information from using the point mass trajectory program on JBM. The 62grain is apparently usable in a 1 in 12" twist as longoing aso your velocity is adequate +2800fps, or your altitude is high, according to JBM above 4000feet altitude you should be good even at 2800fps and 1 in 12" twist.

I've been using the 62gr. Varmegeddon by Nosler in my .22-250 Remington 14" twist. They are one of the most accurate bullets in that rifle.
39.0gr. W760 and 34gr. IMR4064. Both loads shoot similarly and to the same poi in my 26" Varmint rifle.
They should be running 3,550 to 3,600fps fps with 4064 and to 3,650fps 3,700fps with 760. These are guesses. I have no crono'd them
nor shot them past 100 meters.

This pretty much confirms they shoot in a 1 in 12" twist, I don't know the altitude. Check out the review at the bottom. It seems to be optimized for a 1 in 10 to 1 in 12 twists the 1 in 7 twist shooters were getting 3 to 4 inch groups indicating an over stabilized bullet.

Rem788 1 in 12 twist in .223 Rem, seems to work. 1/2 inch groups, good enough for varmints under 200.

I just wish someone (HNDY) would copy this in a .172" bullet, (minus cannelure)

Perfect Bullet
I've been looking for a 62 grain .224 bullet for some time. When Midsouth got these Hornady 62 grain BTHP bullets in I ordered 1500. Took a chance that they would shoot well. Just finished at the range. With a Remington 788 in .223 caliber and a 1X12" twist I shot a 1/2" group at 100 yards with Varget 25.0. See image. In my Ruger Mini 14 5.56 with a 1X9" twist I shot a 3/4" group at 50 yards with Varget 25.0. My eyes finally focused for once. I also tested this same bullet in BLC (2). The Rem 788 produced a 3/4" group with 23.5, a 5/8" group (center to center) with 24.0 and another 3/4" group with 25.0. The cases were WCC and the primers CCI 400. Hornady does not at this time have a manual load for this grain bullet. My preference is for Varget as this is an Extreme Extruded Powder. This more than exceeded my expectations for accuracy in both rifles.

Just curious..........

I've never heard of a overstabilized bullet but I have heard of bullet rpm getting so high that they start coming apart due to centrifugal force.

a lot of recent testing has shown that more rpm can translate into higher BC #'s. well at least with the heavy for caliber vld's on the market.
