Default Johnsons paste wax

Any reason it couldn't be used in place of Imperial sizing wax. Frank C.

Imperial sizing die wax has a high film strength; I think it was developed for the sheet metal forming processes in the auto industry. Paste wax probably doesn't have those properties

First off, IF you decide to give it a try sizing brass. Use old brass and a die you don't value much. Then expect the case to stick and be a battle getting it out.
Don't try it at first in a custom high priced die.
Have fun though! For $9, is it worth it??

I've tried some science experments with sizing lubes and have always ended up removing broken brass from my dies. Every one of mine seemed like a really good plan until I pulled the handle down. Larry

In a pinch when you forget the sizing wax at home, I have used "chap stick" and it works well.

Default Johnsons

I noticed on one of the cast bullet websites that Johnsons past wax is used as a lube for the 310 Cadet bullet with external lube groove. The information said that this was a good wax because it dries to a hard film on the bullet and does not shift easily from the lube groove - that doesn't sound like the sort of stuff I'd want in a resizing die.

I've heard some guys use PAM cooking spray as a sizing lube. I've not tried it myself.

Aaahhhhh PAM!! How well I remember taking someone's suggestion to use that sticky Sh--t!! to make it easier to remove the S. Texas Love Bugs from the front of my Freightliner. Talk about a major mess!!! IT did protect the paint, but, by the time I got that sticky crap and the half million dead bugs off there wasn't much paint left anyway.

I was told to "just spray the whole front with Pam and they'll wash right off and their juice's won't harm the fresh paint." Yeah sure!! The truck wash wand just blew the bugs bodies off and left the contact surface of the bug intact. It took a real good hard days hand scrubbing to get the Pam off though. It's taken me the biggest part of 40 years to even use Pam in a skillet after that experience.
