Default Leupold ring height

looking at standard rings and bases.

On the Leupold website I can see the ring heights, but I cant see any dimensions on the bases. Do the ring heights include the bases?

No! You must add the base height to get overall height. Brownell's used to give the base height in their catalog, but that's about the only place I've ever seen them given. They vary from maker to maker & model to model so you can mix & match to get the height you need, as the Leupold, Burris, Redfield, etc. turn in bases & rings are all interchangeable. I just go to the local gun store & measure them to get the right combo or buy the bases first so you can measure the ring height you need.

I had Talley low one piece mounts with a VX3 on my Zastava 257wby mag.

I sold the VX 3 and have a Sightron with a 50mm obj that wont fit in the Talley mounts as the obj hits the barrel.

Its only a poopteenth too short and I measure it at .58 of an inch from where the base touches the receiver to where the scope sits on the ring.

I wanted to but medium Talleys but Talley dumped our local distributor who I like in favour of someone I dont know.

So I reckoned on Leupold bases and rings and want to get as low as possible.

Not knowing the base width but knowing how close the Talley was I think mediums Leupolds will work but happy to hear from anyone with a different opinion!
