Default 14 caliber bullets (oh my)

Build your own 14 bullets, it will be fun they said. Oh lord! It's been interesting to say the least. Even managed to make some out of 22 long rifle cases. It takes 5 steps to go from 22 to 14. It takes 5 steps to go from 1/8" lead wire to .105 to make cores. No such thing as a 14 caliber core cutter, so that had to be built. Not sure how many ring dies I made to swage down 17 jackets. Thankfully it is only 2 steps to swage and trim copper 17 jackets down to 14. All told, I think I have about 300 hours in time to build about 2 dozen 14 bullets.

Bob, you have fallen way, way down the bullet making rabbit hole!

Hope all is well with you.

But, with that much time involved to make them. Could Bob even break even and how much would he have to sell them for, to make a profit for his time, effort and work ?
Would some really be willing to pay a super premium price ?

Hey Bill, if I remember right you were the one that got me started in all this. At the rate I'm going now, I think I have between 11 and 12 bucks a bullet. Good thing I don't have to pay myself.

Small caliber bullet making is not what its cracked up to be. Its definitely not a money maker.

I make 20's for myself because I like the resulting bullet better than anything I can buy off the shelf, but making them is definitely not one of my most "funnest" things to do.

Good luck with your venture........... And if people want to buy them, don't be afraid to charge what you need to make it worthwhile.

Not 14 caliber, but for sure 20. Love those 20 calibers, but not I must not use them on game or even non-game, legally, since my commie state went lead free to save the condor's. Bill K

But, my old shooting buddy, who moved to another state, has all of them now and can enjoy them in his 20's.
