I have a 17-222 G (Gullette) and only shoot 25 gr vmax. It's been awesome and once finding the spot in the scope (VHR) it makes repeatable kills in the 500 yard range.

That said I also shoot Ray H 17 Jav Imp which feeds perfectly through my CZ 527. I don't temper getting it in the 500 yard club yet but it has killed a bunch of PDs out to in the 400 yard range. It's not the heavy build like my 17-222.

Over the years I slightly favored the 17 Jav Imp because it was a lighter weight gun easier in my lugging it around. It'll run about the same velocity as the 17-222 with less powder.

So at this point I don't see how you can go wrong building one of each lol!

Does fir the 17 triple deuce are going to be cheaper than going custom made does. I'm using 17-222 Hornady bushing dies but I bet if you had a set of 222 bushing dies they would work

Yeah, more is always better

I use Redding 222 bushing dies for my three 222 based wildcats, 17/222, 20/222 and 250 Myra, which is the same as your 25 copperhead, they will be used on my 222 barrel when I get that done, so much easier and cheaper than buying sets of dies for all of them.

I have a 17 Remington and Fireball. I am shooting the 17 Remington right now but miss the compact size of the Fireball (my Fireball is out of commission right now) which gives you nearly all of the 17 Remington performance in a smaller size. My thoughts are that 17 Javelina would be about the perfect larger size 17 case, but it has extra case forming work and cost, which I would probably endure. I think I would try it one day.

Leopold Scopes, Forester reloading equipment and Victorianox knives.

I video recorded all of my Highpower Rifle matches. Pretty soon I am going to watch them all in reverse order so that I can watch those F Class guys GO HOME and leave us alone so that we can shoot Highpower Rifle.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question on 17 caliber formats. I guess that I'm still undecided at this point but my barrel, Shilen with a 9 twist, is not here yet so I have some time.
When using the 222 bushing dies what bushing size are you using? Which ever cartridge I decide on do you recommend zero free bore? Finally, does anyone have a reamer that they would rent out for my chamber job (17-222)?
Regards and Happy 4th,
