Default (FEELER) 20vt contender

So I have tried my hand at making 20vt cases from 223 and It is making me hate the case. I am thinking about selling the 20vt I am having built to be able to finish a few other projects.

it would include:

semi custom laminate stock
26" bullberry 20vt barrel(NEVER FIRED)
20 moa pic rail
221 fireball Redding FL sizing die
17 fireball redding sizing #1 die
20vt full length bushing die w/ nitride bushing
wilson seating die
km neck turning tool
km case holding tool
kn 20cal neck flaring tools
harbor freight mini chop saw
some were around 400 virgin lc 223 cases

I would like 1600 shippped for all of it (insurance is extra)

I will not be splitting it up.

I will have the rifle back from the stock fitting in the next 3 weeks. If one of ya'lls are interested let me know.

I'll just throw this out as something to consider. The VT is really an amazing cartridge. Don't know of anyone who has had one that was not pretty tickled with it. Forming the brass may very well not be for everyone. I believe the merits of the 20VT would be well worth paying someone to make up a couple hundred pieces for you. Keep in mind that the brass lasts for many, many firings. Just my thoughts. Would hate to see you dump everything before you get some trigger time with it. In the end, do what you feel will bring you the greatest enjoyment.

Default (Feeler) 20 VT

I Agree with Ramos.. Adam Bentley, posts here on the forum, would likely take your 223 brass and work out with you the making it into 20VT. I had him make me some 20VT brass (as others did) and it works just fine. If you stay with and shoot that 20VT of yours, you will not want to part with that caliber. Just a thought.. Bill K

Default forming 20 VT brass

I have 2 20 VT rifles and like them. I neck down 221 FB brass, trim, load and shoot. It could not be more simple.

Also, Lapua has been hinting that they will be making 221 Fireball brass in 2014. Don't jump ship when an excellent cartridge promises to get even better.

JC,
If the VT has hit a wall for you, you could send the barrel back to Fred and have a 20 TAC chambered (or?). He will re-chamber his barrels for very cheap and he does a great re-stamp of name on the barrel. Blue or SS.
Just a thought.....He did this on a 17 REM barrel to a 17-222Mag for me and it is a simple necking of the 222M brass, that I already had a bunch of.
Just a thought.....
Bill

you might also consider rechambering to 20-222 which is somewhat of a good meeting ground between 20vt and 20 tac as it will allow you to load down low towards 20vt speed with 32 g bullets. just a thought.

Well you all inspired me to at least give case forming one more try so I did. After about 40 tries and I had only 6 cases necked to 221fb I have made my mind up. I will be selling this when I get it back from the smith. I only reload so I can shoot more cheaply. This is just to much work and quite frankly just pisses me off to much.

If any of you want the barrel and loading gear I would be willing to split it up that way. I can always slap a 223 barrel on there and be happy. I would like to sell it as a complete rifle though.
