Try CFE 223 and/or IMR 4166. Bill K

RL10X has been best for me. Keep in mind it is temperature sensitive.

Found Pro Varmint to work best for me with the 39gr bullet in my 204R.

8208 works very well with the Sierra 39, I have put them in my prairie dogs only pile.

I have loaded for 4 different .204's and all preferred the 39 BK & IMR 8208 over any other combination for accuracy. You may need to adjust seating depth & make sure you are using quality brass. I generally use Rem 7 1/2 or CCI 450 primers. All 4 rifles were consistent at 3/8" to 1/2" 5 shot groups and my current XR 100 will do 1/4" fairly regular in calm conditions. IMR 8208 is not real temp sensitive either. The 40 Nosler BATP is another good choice. I have not been able to get the 40 V-Max to group in my rifles.

Have shot BK, Vmax and Berger out of my 204. The BKs have shot great but so did the others. 35 Berger, 39 BK and 40 Berger will all shoot under half inch. The BKs about .3 at 27.3 grains. I buy whatever is on sale as I use the gun mostly for gophers.
I too am a fan of 8208 in the 204. 27.3 grains with the BKs will give me 3850 fps. With the 35 Bergers I can get them over 4000 fps. |
