Default For those who shoot 17's in CA there is news

https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifl...15-5-gr-ntx#!/

Not that they will be on the shelves anytime soon, but at least they plan on releasing them. It's a bit late for me, I am down to 1 17.

Great news. I was hoping Hornady or Sierra would do such. The NTX by Hornady is just what I wanted. Thanks for the heads up. Bill K

Interesting. One pic of the bullet box shows '100', but up underneath the bullet description it says '20/box'. It also says 'box count 20' in the product description.

Knowing how Hornady usually does, no doubt they will be sold 100 to a box. I would not mind if they did like some others did, and sold the 17 cal at 200 to a box, as they are small enough to fit easy into such. Bill K

If they’re gonna do them in 20 count boxes, they won’t be cheap.

Default Typo

I think that the”20/box” is a typo. If you look at the picture of the box on the right hand side of that ad, it shows “QTY: 100.

Those little 20gr 17 cal bullets are bad enough to load, I could only imagine what it'll be like with those 15's. Use a set of tweezers to place the bullet in the neck maybe. lol

Has anyone tried the Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos 17 cal 20 gr non-lead bullets?
Have been experimenting with them and have shot some very good groups however consistency has been somewhat of a problem.
At this point they do not shoot as good as lead but they seem to have potential. And, if nothing else they shoot good enough to solve the Cal problem until something better comes along.

Have tried and have some of Lehigh and Hammer bullets in the 17 cal. They do work and some good loads have been worked up.
But the cost, especially the Hammer's are pricy. Hopefully the Hornady's will be as good as their other bullets are, and somewhat less costly for shooting so many in the squeeks/chuck fields. Bill K

Good news for the .17 cal reloaders indeed.

My experience with the .17 Hornet for a few years..........revealed the Factory Hornady 15.5gr Ammo to be EXTREMELY accurate. The bullet is also extremely explosive.

So, no doubt the bullet is quality.
Also, being a boat tail and lead free It is nearly the same as a lead 20gr (size wise).
