Default Found the solution

I finally got to the bench and sized the Lapua brass. I tried the Redding body sizer, then the Redding .228 neck sizer. The body sizer brought it down to .229 and the neck sizer finished it off. Great!

Default Easy 221FB > 20VT

I am re-posting this advice I got from Adam Bentley years ago on this forum. Easiest, most perfect and pretty cheap way to go from .221 FB to 20VT. I've used it on Remington, Nosler and Lapua brass. One stroke, load and shoot. I've never seen any performance difference between my newly formed and fired brass.

If you can find a 17M4 form die #1/ 17FB Form Die they makes perfect 20VT cases.. Adam

The 17FB form die brings the neck of the .221FB case to .228" leaving the ID of the case .200". This doesn't make a 17cal neck, this is an intermediate step to get to 17cal

Default Changed my solution

So what I described in my previous post gave .005 runout in the middle of the neck(factory Lapua is +- .001). My new solution use a tapered bushing I made(.247 to .235) then body size which gets the neck to .231. I then turn the necks to .013, neck size to .228. This gives me about .0015 runout.

I don't have the Kindler book, but I will have it. I used Sleeping Giant Brass at the same price as High Plains, but wanted to try Lapua.
