Default killer bee/ ackley bee

when I went down this rabbit hole, I found RCBS and Redding would not give me the specs to their dies, but would verify if their dies would work with a particular reamer print. I also learned not to use the word standard in the discussion as there is no standard in a wildcating. the word they want to hear is the most popular print as there are many prints out there with small variations. the 20ackley bee in todd's book, drawing #1405 (PT&G) is considered the most popular and works with RCBS dies. as far as Killer bee dies I had whidden make mine with 6 fired casings. I don'd believe you can order KB dies without fired casings, but I could be wrong . I have several prints in my PC, but don't know how to post them here. the main difference is 30 deg or 40 deg shoulder. If I didn't already have both the killer bee and ackley bee, I would stick to just one, what ever is easiest to get dies and reamer.

Many thanks friends I will pass this on to the fella.

Does the drawing indicate a 25* shoulder or do I have that wrong?

If you can't find 218 Bee brass, run the reamer in short so you can use Starline 32-20 brass. It would still make a great little round.

I found my .17 Ackley Bee was easily 150-200fps faster than my .17AH.

This means I quite easily hit 4,150fps with 20gr. Vmaxs and .4,500fps with 15gr.

Berger HP's. Wish they still made those.

The Ackley version has a 30degree shoulder, seems to me. Reloader #7 was a

super powder for it, for top-end loads with near full capacity for both 20's and 25's.
