For me though, On the Ground or off a bench, I like my MCM A5's. I even have an A5 wannabe, Boyd's Pro Varmint, on my HB SS Bmag 17 WSM. For an off hand hunting stock or just a do all stock that always seems to fit the bill and feel good in the hands, I like the McM Varmint. |

I like their XP-100 stock.
MPI just sent my buddy an email. They are not taking anymore orders. Closing up shop. Apparently the old man died. Aaron |

My brother has a couple rifles with McMillan game warden stocks on them. I never shot them too much but what I did they felt like really nice stocks.

foxhunter, don't dare, after the last time I hurt a guys feelings
so much he was gonna quit the board over it! Barrett: right on! Though I never shot one and didn't really like the way a 99 Savage handled, I thought it was way too heavy. Yet most of my rifles are half again as heavy. Oh well! B23: Depends on how old you are and where it happened. Go pat your old man on the back, tell him he's got someone that agree's with him for a change. Ah hell guys, I've gotta admit to owning at least half dozen black plastic POS stocked guns. all NEF's, as the shape of them is so much better than their wood stocks I even swapped a couple wood for plastic for them. More guns I don't shoot. Seems the house is full of such things. Cheers!

George quit the forum, not going to happen as I took my meds this morning. lol
with me rifles with high grade wood are instant safe queens and eventually sold. I had a cooper model 40 in 22 k hornet with exhibition grade wood, one of 40 model 40 made. i was 2700.00 in 1994 money. I was scared to death it would get dinged going to the range. I was only shot once and locked away until I sold it. like most I have both.

The hell Bob:
I know of a real fine looking Cooper .17 VR you sold about 7 yrs ago. Was that because you were afraid to shoot it too? I have a few very fine looking rifles, that's one of 'em, no safe, but, they're not being shot either. But, it's sure as hell not because I'm afraid to ding the stocks a bit. 7mmag Sako Finnbear has as pretty a hunk of wood as any. I carried it many a mile elk hunting and never got a shot. When horseback I took the .300 Enfield. Hard telling what a damned horse might do in the timber or steep hillside. Dad's nice M'70, '06 was so beat up I was half ashamed of it. Sanded it down and refinished it real nice. Traded it to KW. I figure we've got 'em, shoot 'em. Wish I was able to get out more. have three times as much in guns as I paid for my house originally.
