! have a 6MM 1.5"X 21" 9-TW barrel
A new CZ 527 Action with a 4.50" diameter bolt face.
I also have a 223 bolt body if I should choose a 222 family case. It would be used as a Varmint,Target. Ideas on taking weight off the barrel . It will be hauled to where it will be used. Thanks Kenny

I thought maybe you were going to do some kind of anti-aircraft round necked down to 6mm. 6mm Howitzer?

The barrel is kinda a "Done Deal" unless taking a chance of messing up the barrels accuracy....But, on the cartridges for the two bolt faces you have, my votes would be a 6mm AR and a 221 Fireball...both love the CZ action...

Thanks for the reply Bill.
I can't keep my math straight. I'v been on cancer poison for a year now nd it ain't getting no better. Bill,I am not familiar with the 6mm AR. I think a inch and a half diameter is pretty standard for a barrel blank. I was just asking for ideas on how much to turn off the blank, for accuracy not what it looks like. Maybe we can have accuracy and pretty too. Kenny

I have a CZ527 built into a 6mm AR with a 10 twist barrel and love it.
A 6x45 or 6mm TCU would be another option, but with heaver bullets you'll need to seat them deep into the case to fit into the magazine. Not a great situation given the limited powder capacity of the case. John |

Here's a link on the 6mmAR website... it's lineage is a 762x39...to a PPC...to a 6.5 Grendel...necked down to a 6mm Grendel (6mmAR). It really is a great 6mm cartridge and CZs are a perfect match to build one on...The Grendel/762 CZ magazines feed the cartridge very well. I am just not up on barrel work after they are chambered...hear it can affect the accuracy, but I have no experience in this...Fluting would be what I would like to do to lower weight, but don't know what end product achives in stress on the barrel....Others know more on this than I. I just have enough experience with cartridges on these two boltfaces and their potential and actual performance to recommend the 6mmAR and the 221 FB...as options that would make the most demanding Cartridge Sleuth Smile when shooting them.!!!! At least that would be my feelings... Bill http://www.6mmar.com/6mm_AR_Loading_Info.html

I have nothing against profiling a barrel after it is rifled.\
All barrels are done that way you know. Kenny

6X45. Turn it to .800 at the muzzle. Kind of what I am looking at, only not in a CZ.
