Default Power Case Trimmer Recommendation

I am thinking about buying a power case trimmer. Have both Lyman and RCBS but not crazy about either one. No real problems just not quiet what I am looking for. Am considering a Giraud, Dillon & Gracey. Would like the opinions of anybody who has used any of them. Or any other Brand you would highly recommend.

**Also meant to mention. I shoot a lot of wildcats. Will this be a problem??

Thanks In advance
Doug

Default Power case trimmer

Doug. I use and like the Hornady trimmer, and I put the power adapter on it, instead of the hand crank, use a small battery powered drill on it and it does a fine job. Easy to adjust and it is not noisy. And I do use it on lots of wildcats cartridges. Has pilots from .22 up to 45. I did have to make a pilot so I could trim 17 caliber cartridges. however. I believe you would like this model, check out Hornady's website or look one over at your sports shop. Bill K

I have had a Gracy for years and love it. For small volumes I just use a Hornady hand trimmer.

Do you use the Gracey cutter or did you replace it with the Giraud?

Default Giraud

I have used a Giraud for too many years to recall. It is the workhorse of trimmers.

I have made thousands of Vartargs from Lake City. Trimming after the cut off saw is very efficient with the Giraud. I don't think it would be practical without it.

With the Vartarg and other wildcats, I have simply used and old barrel to fabricate the case holder, threading it and then reaming it with the chamber reamer. These shop fabricated case holders work as well or better than the standard caliber Giraud case holders with the spring insert.

One other major benefit of the Girard's speed is the chamfer on the cutter removes the case mouth peening that develops if you SS pin tumble cases.

I use the Giraud for processing 223 brass just because of the large number there is and the fact that it chamfers too. For all others I bought a WFT that accepts the individual caliber trim chambers. It is so handy and way faster than any bench mount or hand crank option. Portability is nice too.

I am guessing it's a Giraud cutter as it chamfer's both sides. It was replaced over 20 years ago, so I can't remember who made it.
