But Fatcat had such an eloquent and well thought out response backed by empirical data on the need to sort ammo based on rim thickness, etc.

Default B s?

OK, if you are going to call B.S. then be specific and explain. Eley is for a fact one of the most consistent rimfire ammunitions made. Their quality control is amazing. So is the match ammo most match shooters use made by other companies. Over the years I have sorted thousands of rounds of rimfire ammo by weight, rim thickness and groups from different guns. Have pulled bullets, necked down and reloaded rimfire ammo with different bullets. This was for wildcat rimfires. Few years back primed rim fire cases were running around $100 for a case of 5000 cases. Beat pulling bullets. Pulling bullets does allow a person to see why some cheap ammo misfires and or has extreme velocity spreads. Priming compound that doesn't go around rim. Priming compound amounts that visibly vary, powder charges that vary. Yet some inexpensive ammo is very consistent and shoots well for the price. So what part of what I said about ammo is BS. Explain?

I would be inclined kind to bid him farewell.

Agree.. Jim should review and give this some thought. Only takes one or two bad apples to spoil the barrel. Bill K

Default Original topic

I apologize for getting off of the original topic. Ruger has built some great guns over the years. The ease of barrel change and after market parts makes the 77/22 rimfires as easy to modify as the 10/22. Ruger like other companies sell guns that run from excellent to awful accuracy out of the box. The availability of after market parts allows the average shooter to make even a dog into a great gun usually. That is not an option with most brands. Rugers may not always be perfect but for cost and options available I'll always own them. Benchrest guns they are not, but for working/hunting guns they are hard to beat.

I've known Nate for years, he's (wisely) mostly a CZ guy. Heck of a Squirrel Sniper that's for certain.
