Default lead core

Hi guys

When seating the cores on .705" J4 224 jackets, the core hits the jacket botton.
But with the .920" jackets, the core stop .200" above the botton. Seems that the jacket ID is smaller than the .189" core.

Will this situations give me a trapped air in the bullets base?

Is mandatory a loose fit, to avoid trapped air?

Excuse my bad english

Thanks

Liseo

You should be fine at that depth you will not trap air.

Hi George

I believe you are the right guy to ask this.

I have a steel die set for .224 FB bullets.

What more I need to make BT bullets? Just the right punch for the core seating and point forming dies?

Thanks

You can go that route I personally would not be real thrilled doing it that way, but it will work. downside is it will cause your core seat die to wear faster due to pressure causing punch to swell. The other thing is you will have a small lip where b.t. tangents the body not really a big deal but some people do not want it . but if you are not making LOTS of bullets it would work..
