Agree about the 35gr VMAX. I tried some in factory loaded ammo, and the ballistic coefficient was so low, that shooting them in any kind of wind was useless, about like shooting a 22lr in the wind. 40gr VMAX are much better, and are very useful in Hornet, 221FB and 223 Remington.

Seconds? Maybe - in the States. We don't get those up here or if we do, it's a rare event.

Yes seconds. Midway has had it a few times I think. local gun shops have got some over runs or seconds. As stated the B.C. of both and are close to a brick. Western Powder lists CIP loads for a 30 grain VG a in a .223 at 4345fps. If at all accurate, it would make for a nice show for short range shots.

The 35 grain Nosler I mentioned and use, is their Ballistic Tipped Varmint lead free. Shoots very good and I kill critters all the way to 400 plus with it.
Some allowance is used if wind is present. Works great on ground squirrels and rock chucks and even on called coyotes, now that I must use lead free. Use it in my various 224's. 223 to 224 Valkarie. Hornady's NTX 35 grn works very well in the 221 Fireball also. Doe a good job in the other 224's and often also out to 3-400 yrds. Last edited by Bill K; 03-08-2021 at 08:11 PM. |

What I got were NOT blems.
I bought a box of 250 from midway. No idea the price now. As for accuracy at 200 yards or more it was about equal to throwing bricks would be! 50 yards impact from one shot to the next might be giving them too much credit!
