Default No Ruger 77/22 Hornets around

I went to Gunbroker for "a look see" and there were very very few Ruger 77/22 Hornets for sale. That is odd.

Products that I am looking for but can't seem to find no matter how hard I look:
Leopold Scopes, Forester reloading equipment and Victorianox knives.

I video recorded all of my Highpower Rifle matches. Pretty soon I am going to watch them all in reverse order so that I can watch those F Class guys GO HOME and leave us alone so that we can shoot Highpower Rifle.

Maybe more are keeping them and/or opening their chambers to a K-Hornet

Why in high demand? Everyone seems to bad mouth them.

I’m one that bad mouths them. Had two, both piss poor on accuracy after shimming bolts, trigger job, glass bedding and other money flushers. Sold them, bought an Anschutz, actually two of them. Problem solved.
Would have been less costly to do it right the first time (buy the Anschutz).

There was a 77/22 Hornet with a sporter barrel and walnut stock on the rack at Penrose Pawn in Broken Arrow OK. I think they do online sales. Pretty sure it was over priced. Pawn shop prices usually are.

The Ruger 77/22 or 77/17 series are a crap shoot. Some shoot very well and others are real turds. I've had several but only one that would not shoot. My son and I each have one of the all weather stainless laminated 22 Hornets. Both will keep a .5-.75" group at 100 with 40 grain Vmax's and lil gun. They have both been "tuned". The barrels have been free floated, the bolts shimmed and sears replaced. This is with mixed head stamp brass. Prior to tuning the rifles both shot about 1" or slightly larger groups out of the box. The one dud I did have was a 17HMR. First time I fired it, I had 4 out of 5 shots hit a 9" paper plate at 100 yards! I did the same tuning listed with the previous rifles and tried 5 different types of ammo and the best group it shot was slightly over 3".
I've talked to several people about the "bad" Rugers. I kept hearing that there was a point in production where Ruger was out sourcing their barrels, and these were the guns that shot poorly. I have no hard facts that this is true about the barrels so take it with a grain of salt....... I've got one chambered in Mach2 that is one of my favorite rifles for Starling sized targets out to 100 yards. I've owned 2 of the HMR's and figured out It was a cartridge I didn't need. The first was terrible and the second one was an OK shooter but the accuracy was not good enough to stretch beyond 125-150 yards. The 17 Ackley does every thing the HMR will do and much more.

I would be ok with a CZ 527, but want to give a other try on the All Weather version. I had the Sporter and sold it. I don't really too much like light rifles. I have a Cooper Hornet, so I can take a gamble on a Ruger. What I absolutely won't buy is the Anschütz previously mentioned. I absolutely will NOT buy any rifle where the bolt handle runs through a slot in the receiver, especially if it uses the root of the bolt handle as a locking lug.

As an interesting note, I recently saw that CZ discontinued the CZ 452 rimfires and replaced them with some HEINOUS looking POSs where the bolt handle runs throug the receiver. REALLY GLAD that I got my LH CZ 452 (American?) a while back. I should have bought another one or two. What was CZ thinking?????

I saw a good clean one last week at Collector's Firearms near downtown Houston. I thought about running back the next day to buy it, but an early morning check of their website showed it was sold.

I don't think it lasted on the shelf over two days............
