Default .20 PPC velocities w/ 40 grain bullets?

What velocity are you guys getting with the .20 PPC and 40 grain bullets? What is your favorite powder?

Thanks,

Jordan

Default 20 ppc

I load to 3900 FPS using Benchmark for prairie dogs. I have not pushed for high velocities - just looking for an accurate load usable when the temperatures rise in the prairie dog patch.

I’m really not sure where the top is but some folks report topping 4000 FPS with 40 grain bullets.

I have done one load work up with the 20 PPC for another guy - his rifle. With Ramshot Big Game I only got 3850 fps but the groups were one hole and ES was single digits. 24" BBL, Lapua brass, 39 BK.

Jordan, I've tried H-322, N133, and H-335 over the last few years in my 20 PPC. I always end back up at H-335. I average 3950 fps on my Chronograph. I shoot nothing but the 39 gr Sierra BK's or the 40 gr V-Max. Accuracy is a little better with the 39 gr Sierra BK's...but I like the price of the 40 gr V-Max better...LOL! The rifle has about 700 rds through it, and still shoots in the high 1's...low 2's. It is a great longer range rd on Sage Rats. 410gauge

I load 8208 XBR behind the 40 Vmax and get 4000fps easy.

I tried H322, H4895 and Benchmark before settling on the 8208 accuracy has been astounding with all powders.

Start at 204 loads and work up

Default 20ppc

According to my notes the last time I played with my 20PPC was in 2017
and that was mostly with the 35 Berger because it was a better fur bullet then the Berger 40
These two loads were made for accuracy not speed ...
40 Berger w/26.0 N133 @ 3720 fps
35 Berger w/26.1 Benchmark @ 3720

Nearly the same as AlbertaAl, I use 26 gr of N-133 with a 39 Gr Sierra BK for 3740 fps. Great accuracy / .204 Ruger performance at twice the price, LOL.
