I thought, (Probaly wrongly) that those two bullets are the same and Berger just renamed the MEF, Match Varmint.

Wasn't one moly?
MEF = Maximun Expasion Factor....meaning bigger hollow point opening. Last edited by Dooger; 11-18-2016 at 10:54 PM. |

Dogger is correct
After looking at the openings the MEF bullets do have a larger opening. Does any one know if one has a higher BC than the other.

Kenbro, the old Federal 200gr HP in 45 ACP was also called "flying ash tray." The HP was around 3/16 in diameter.
The older Berger 17cal match bullets had much smaller HP, and had much better penetration than the MEF. |

All else being equal, a larger me'plat will always result in lower BC, and vice-versa. RG

Speer 200gr. HP. It also worked well in my Bro;s model 1917 Colt NS. I loaded 10.0gr. Unique for those loads - running 1,050fps.

You are right, it was Speer, not Federal. Blue box with yellow letters, as I recall.
