Default 222 Rem, 30degree shoulder??

I was wondering if there is a wildcat where the standard 222 Rem, is fireformed in any way so the shoulder is 30degrees instead of the 46/2 = 23degree it comes with?

I see almost all the "accuracy" cartridges today comes with a 30degree shoulder, and I wonder if the 222.30degree would see an accuracy increase by doing this?

Default Did'nt Todd make....

Something called a 22 Var-Targ Turbo. It seems to me that he made more than just 20s and had some 22s and 6mm wildcats in the Var-Targ series.
They would have been made with 30 degree shoulders.
Welcome aboard BTW
Matt

PTG has a list of the wildcat reamers they have on their website that is a great useful tool. In "my" opinion, the .222 is a round that if kept to factory psi, requires very little trimming and long case life. I'm not trying to suggest not to try anything, but it works so well in factory form, it's kind of hard to improve upon. I hit my 50's before I figured this out.

20-222 AI or the 20 vartarg turbo, both are very accurate. But then again you can to a 222 Rem ai and gain FPS and work up a accurate load, like any other rifle needs done. Bill K

Going back to the early 1960's there have been many "improved" versions of the .222 - probably all good. IN benchrest competition rifles, there were a number of 222/30; 222/35; 222/45 degree chambers, all of which proved worthwhile. Anything between a 222 and 222 Mag, regardless of shoulder angle 7 &/or body taper will likely prove excellent: for a .22 caliber expansion ratio, this case capacity range is very efficient. RG
