the extractor, clip look sako to me. might be a 17 mach 4 which was popular about that time. not the same case as the 17 fireball. could be a 17/222 as well.

Back end of the bolt don't look Sako to me.
The rest of it is close though. Try setting a .223 case in the bolt face for a picture, let's see how that fits up. Same with the scope base, parts of it looks like Sako milled in rails, yet that one shows the back as added on with screws. Let's see more details of that. You're doing great with the pictures, wish the rest of us could do as well.

In search of some info on this rifle
Think if it proves to be either of those 17's, I would leave it and shoot it as such. Both are fine shooters. Bill K

Depending on what it turns out to be I may have it rechambered to 17 rem, that way I can get factory ammo. It will be about 7 mo the till my reloading bench is back up and running.
