Default 6x45 on a Sako L46 .222Mag action and L46 safetys

Enjoying a 6x45 rifle Adam Bentley built for me on an L46 .222Mag action. I have 4 L46 based rifles..17FB built by Dasher, the Bentley 6x45, an original L46 in .222 and a Marlin 322 that was going to become something else but was so accurate I couldn't bring myself to make it a donor.
Anyway..anybody out there familiar with the mechanics of the L46 side lever safety? two of mine are pretty stiff, one is just right and one functions perfectly as the safety but the indicator rod will slide back and forth when the safety is on. a bit "spooky"...Any info on the internals, adjustments out there? Thanks in advance for any experience or info sources you can share?

I'd post a Bentley rifle pic or two but this site whips my rearend when it comes to posting pictures.

One of mine broke, so be careful! I assume parts are not obtainable.

If need be, you can always put a Timney in it. Wouldn't want a questionable safety on a hunting rifle. BTW, I did the same thing with one of my A1's. Had a 204 Ruger custom coyote rifle that was all camo'd in a nice Brown Precision stock that I was never going to use, traded for it. Had Henry spin up a 8 twist Brux #3 for it in 6X45. Been playing with loads a little using Sierra 85 HPBT. Seems to like about 24.5 grs of H-322 seated for mag length. Would post pics but have same problem as you. Nice little low recoil lightweight deer rifle or walking varminter with light bullets.

Default Re Timney Trigger...

That would sure be an easy fix but the L46 safety is in the bolt assembly rather than part of the trigger assembly...I'd post a picture but...you know.

Found a guide on the Sako Collectors site...so..now I should be able to take it apart and hopefully get the indicator rod working properly and get it back together...hopefully.....

Sorry, didn't pick up that it was a L46, not a 461, my bad. Hope you can get it fixed. Isn't that safety setup sorta like a Win M70?
