Please, give us a report. There are a number of good sporting rimfire rifles on the market right now. Some of these are being used as accurate competition rifles for events like those sponsored by the NRL22. Anxious to hear what you find out. Burt

Default Not a bad idea Burt....

I have thought about rebarreling a Ruger 17WSM into 5mm as it should be plenty strong enough. Was thinking if CZ built one it would be a less expensive donor to use.
Of course MGM has a 5mm reamer ready to go to make a nice Contender pistol or carbine.Just waiting on Aguila to produce 5mm again.

I emailed them a few months before they brought out their .17HH and they told me the same thing! I am not holding my breath, but I am hoping the WSM comes out from CZ.

Here is a reply I got from Aguila on the 5mm mag. This reply from them is more personal than the rest that me and others have received in the past (perhaps I was a little pushy with my request) but the fact that they have now pegged it to the first of 2019 gives me some hope that maybe it will really happen. Burt

Hi there Burt!

Thank you for reaching out again and we apologize for the delay! But there is GREAT news on the horizon!

We are settling into our onsite manufacturing facility right here in Texas and putting our effort into producing 5mm in about 6 months or so – if not sooner!

Per usual, this is going to be a HUGE announcement through all of our social media applications and via email. We understand how many people are dying to get their hands on it and have heard everyone’s cry!

I promise Burt, its coming! Be on the look our come beginning of 2019 and you’ll be back to shooting that gun again.

We are super excited to be making this again!

Have a great holiday!

Also talked with the folks at CZ today on the 457. Here is what I was told --

1) Should start to ship sometime first quarter of 2019.
2) will be able to utilize 455 barrels and magazines - ie switch barrel
3) Action is about 1/2 inch shorter than 455 action
4) 60 degree bolt lift (I think that is what was said, for sure less than the 452/455)
5) slide safety
6) Nitride finish vs. bluing.
7) The target/match version is considered a target rifle, not a sporting rifle.
8) not plans to chamber in anything but 22lr, 22mag, 17hmr.

I wonder if it would safely handle the 5 mm rem mag presure and if the would feed from a 22 mag magazine.

Would be nice eh?

Don't know about the pressures. I believe that the 22 mag and 17hmr are in the neighborhood of 26,000 and the 5mm rmr is not to exceed 33,000. Got a note from Carson Lilja today that they could and would produce barrels in 5mm rmr if enough wanted to purchase. They could feed from either a 22 mag or a 17hmr magazine. One of the two should work don't you think? Burt
