I would definitely try the bulk Nosler bullets if groundhog was my main target.
The Hornady 25gr hollow point was a fine fur bullet for me in the .17 Remington and when paired with 4320 it was very accurate. While it might be on the way out there have always been custom makers that produced much better bullets in the same weight. Definitely give them a try if you want the best. This morning I purchased some of the 25gr hollow point Hornady bullets in bulk from Graf’s to put up for a rainy day. They said they still had some leftover and at a discount. About $16 per box. |

17 caliber bullets
I have not tried them at reduced speeds like that. But when I use them on a rabbit for eating, I had better hit the head, otherwise they become more like stew. I would believe if you slowed them down, 2000 fps, they would be okay. Bill K

In the 20 & 224 cal Nosler has some very good one's and they are not to bad, price wise and all are showing signs of really good accuracy with the loads I am playing with. Bill K Last edited by Bill K; 01-31-2019 at 01:21 AM. |

I shoot them at 2000 fps to 1800fps, they do some damage, but are not explosive, and you will not get a mushy rabbit. Entrance is pinprick, exit is about a dime, damage about 1 inch or farther from bullet path is negligible in a cross body shot through a rabbit chest. I guess it did not leave much lead frags in the rabbit, but I did not have it xrayed to check. Rabbit was DRT. |

If you can get your mitts on the 20gr Game Point 17HMR bullet, you will be happy with it at 2200fps. |

I’m in UK but will send some over. Let me know if interested and I’ll get price. Alternately, I think some members on Saubier might have a stash they might share. Regards,Ken.
