Thus the importance of fur friendly loads.
Guys realize a lot of these quotes you hear are based on properly handled furs sold through auction houses. Not all coyotes or cats are the same. Cats they want heavily furred with very wide and very clean white bellies with good spots. The backs of these cats will have more of greyish blue rather than being reddish brown. Coyotes probably have more range in price than anything, little rubbed from mange not worth fifty cents. Good pale heavy westerns will be worth well over a C note. Don't expect high dollar on low dollar fur. Remember for his risk and work, fur buyers deserve reward. Just imagine a 22-250 vmax turning a 500 buck cat into 2 worthless half cats. 2 bullets with goods reps are .172 Berger Match-Target and the Berger 20 cal 35gr P.S. Western cats hit $1550 last year with $450 average, heavy coyotes hit $640 with about a $85 average Price this year is thought to be off a little from last year, but many feel the catch will be off. Anyway wild fur is beautiful, respect it. Last edited by MO17; 01-05-2014 at 06:23 AM. |

Dropped off fur at the NAFA pick up point this morning. General comment being made was how much the catch was off. Should make for an interesting auction if the numbers are down across a large area.
