A whole lot of us around these parts think so.

Pueblo chili is too, compared to Hatch.

Default Melons

I’ve been buying them for three weeks at a farmers market in Colo Springs. They are labeled Rocky ford, and are darn good. That’s all I have for breakfast when they are in season.

I haven't been out myself til tonight and didn't get any more.
Sent the house keeper out last week, it set in the fridge til Sat.

Glad you're enjoying it.

Hey, have you seen any update lately on the PP/cog accident?
My next door neighbor was in that Atv and broke his back, some ribs
and shoulder cuff.

Polaris xp 1000, he said the transmission broke coming down then the guy
driving burned the brakes up. Killed one local guy, nearly cut his head off.

IF you see the victims list I'd like to get it. I know the guys name that got killed.

Anyone else interested: Pikes Peak Cog railway accident July 17th. Five riding down the hill, all got hurt pretty bad, one killed in the run away coming down after work shift.

I had quite a surprise last night at W/M.

Planned on buying a watermelon.
They only had 'em from Washington states Columbia Basin.

Not any Rocky Fords just down the road 60 miles.

Skipped buying one. Will get it at Kroger's in a few days.

What a shame on them. Big deal around here is buying locally.

I ordered cantalopes shipped in 4 packs, one a week till the seasons done. My cousin use to live in La Junta and we lived in the springs. Grandparents on Dad's side lived in Florence. We had relatives all over Colorado. Summer we'd hit those little Melon shacks around Rocky. After growing up on those melons I haven't enjoyed many melons since.
My Dad had 11 brothers and 3 sisters, "BIG" German family. I also know what "real" sauerkraut tastes like, grandad use to make it by the barrel. I can make a sauerkraut-pork chop-baby red potato casserole that'll bring tears to a German boys eyes thinking about his Grandma.
When I lived in the springs back as a kid the Springs had about 55,000 people. Then we moved to Glenwood about 8,000.
Ahhh, the memories off childhood.

Just got back from DiSanti in Pueblo. It was a modest run, 380 miles and 25 bushels of chiles. Rellenos last night, mmmmmmm. This is a great year for Colorado chiles.
I, too, used to live in C. Springs. You couldn't pay me to move back.

Hell of a deal.

I lived up there from early '64 til fall '67. Always too cold for me from here.
Never did get used to it. Think the population was around 47,000 then.

Circle drive and Airport rd. I knew the rancher just to the E of Circle. He let me hunt antelope there several years. I set in that fence corner and shot a nice buck. Hell now there's house's 10-12 miles east of there and nearing half mil. Just their flushing keeps the Fountain flowing heavy.

Know foxhunter lived up there too.

Sure glad we've learned that lesson! and moved.
