Whatever Chris decides to do, its his decision alone to make. I'll be selfish and say that I hope he does rebuild, but if he feels its not in the best interest for him and his family at age 66, so be it. He can retire knowing that he made great barrels.

The important thing is that no one was injured by the fire.

I swiped this from the Accurate Shooter Forum...……...looks like they will rebuild.

Just spoke to Kathy Dichter, she said they plan on rebuilding.
Yes,I got an e-mail from her and she said 6 months to a year to rebuild, hopefully. She also said you could follow their progress on facebook. And they get e-mail. That's great news for us. Don't need to loose master craftsmen. Hope they can find the machines they need to make the same quality barrels

Herb:

That's about the best news so far.

Do you or anyone know if they had a warehouse
that was seperate from the burned shop?
IF so, and that didn't burn too. Might have some
materials and other things like spare machinery or
such to get started with.

Does sound like they had things well insured. IF the
insurance company don't snivel too much.

Wish 'em the best.

Had a friend who owned a small business one day have an OSHA inspector arrive and fine him $500 for having the toaster too close to the kitchenette sink. This was back in the 90's. He is retired now, but Lord knows how much it would have cost him today. ($2,500- 5,000...??)

Had a continuing education instructor tell us of an OSHA inspector that arrived at a construction site to mutter loudly to the builder "Ok....let's see what fines we give you today." The builder called the OSHA office to protest and have the inspector removed. They apologized for his behavior, and the next inspector issued him the fines instead.

So many of todays government agencies like OHSA and others have the mentality of the SS in Hitler's day. They are judge and lord over everyone. Bill K
