apparently the best carry varmint rifle is the one you have in your hands when you go afield. I can literally grab any varmint rifle I have an be happy with the results for the day.
in Colorado springs there was a strip club called deja vue, the sign outside said 97 pretty girls and 3 ugly ones. some guys like skinny women, some like big women, some like ugly women and some like the Hollywood sports model type. my point is there is no carry perfect varmint rifle, just personal preferences.

I carry a tc venture 204 ruger topped with Nikon. A 6x18x40 target dot. I also have a tc venture predator 204 ruger topped with a nikon 6x18x40 target dot. I like the little venture rifles.

I have agree with foxhunter. A Kimber Montana rebarreled to a 17Rem. is what I normally carry in the mountains, but the one in 204 I have is a joy also.
