Any idea what the neck thickness is on the Remington brass? It would probably be much easier to just use Remington vs turning the Nosler brass down. I have a 21st century lathe but I’d have to get everything setup for 17.

Most all brass necks can be larger and vary. Best to just trim them to .012 and more often than not, solve any neck issues.

In the .17AH, I use a .191" sizing bushing for WW brass, and .188" for RP brass. This in itself should show the difference in case neck thickness.
If sized with a .191" bushing, the RP brass will not hold a bullet.
I did find in some 300 WW cases, 3 WW cases which would not hold a bullet when sized in the .191" bushing. I discarded them, of course.

Daryl: Curious as too your neck diameter, with bullet seated, after sizing, etc. My 17 Hornet measures .192 with either Win or Rem brass. (Note) This is with the 15.5 NTX Hornady bullet, as that is all I shoot in my 17 calibers 90 % of the time.

Now THAT is interesting, I just measured 2 cases - an R-P with 25gr. Molied Vmax and a WW case with the same 25gr. Vmax Molied bullet.

The WW case measured .19225" and the R-P case measured .18925".

The 1/4 thou. extra measurement was a guess - both being about that much over in the pinched tines of my dial. calipers.

As .22 Hornets, these 2 cases hold 14.4gr. and 13.5gr. Lil'Gun to the same level in the case neck, using a 6" drop tube.
The velocity produced favours the R-P case.
