anyone got a ballistic calculator?
Had a tiny favour to ask. I've tried to get some range cards from a few calculators but seem to get results that are obviously wrong.
I'm trying to find out 300m and 500m performance for a hypothetical 17. Rem setup. Basically it's a 45grainVLD with 3150fps. B.C. might be around 0.38G1 I say again it's hypothetical, I'm aware of the stability problems with 45s, I just want to get a rough gauge. So it's the energy and drop at 300m and 500m, if anyone has a decent calculator and could tell me Thanks. |

I have been using one that seemed spot-on, for years
with everything from my .17 AH, .17 Rem. .22-250, .30/06 and .300 mag. There seems to be a problem loading now. http://www.shooterscalculator.com/ now (Jan. 15th), it's working.

Berger has one online. Just need the bullet dimensions and muzzle velocity.

Okay. I have a very old version of Point Blank that has always worked for me.
I ran the results for your conditions, but I used yards, not meters, since my calculator was set up that way. I used 0.001 scope height to get total drop (inches) and energy (ft-lb). At 300 yds, 18.7" total drop and 597 ft-lb. At 500 yds, 59.1" total drop and 413 ft-lb. Hope this is close enough for your hypothetical case. |
